INNOVATIVE ORGANIC FRUIT GROWING IN EUROPE

On 27 and 28 of July, the BIOFRUITNET project organized 3 multi-actor Fruit Panels to evaluate and to identify innovative approaches and best practices in organic fruit growing. The panels were organized at CIHEAM located in Bari bringing together a diverse group of experts, practitioners and advisors.

The main objective was to evaluate the existing practical, technical and scientific knowledge, to discuss and reflect on innovative approaches to address the current gaps in plant health management in organic fruit growing. The project looks at organic pome fruits, stone fruits and citrus. The discussion focused on concrete organic applications, preventive measures and the potential of functional biodiversity.

In a next step, the findings of workshop will be transferred to attractive learning materials, videos and podcast upgrading the pool of knowledge on organic fruit growing in Europe.
